Privacy Policy

Crowdier ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights over it.

Turkish residents: a separate Information Notice under KVKK sets out the legal grounds, transfers and retention periods that Law no. 6698 asks us to state by name.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

Account & Profile: Name, age, email address or phone number, profile photos, bio, workplace, and any other information you choose to add.

Group Information: Group name, group photos, group bio, vibes, meeting preferences, and activity within your group.

Location: The city and hometown you add to your profile, and your group's location (a city and country, or “Online · different cities”). Other users see both, and Premium members can filter Discover by a group's location. GPS coordinates are collected when you grant location permission, stored on your profile, and never shared with other users.

Usage Data: How you interact with the App — likes, matches, chats, and features you use.

Device & Technical Data: Device type, operating system, IP address, app version, and push notification tokens.

Communications: Messages you send through group chats and match chats within the App.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide, operate, and improve the Crowdier experience.
  • Match your group with compatible groups.
  • Display your profile and group to other users.
  • Send push notifications about matches, messages, and activity.
  • Ensure the safety and integrity of our platform.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

Legal basis for processing (GDPR): We process your data based on your consent (when you create an account), the performance of our contract with you (to provide the service), our legitimate interests (safety, fraud prevention, product improvement), and compliance with legal obligations.

3. Information Sharing

Your profile and group information (name, photos, bio, age, city) is visible to other Crowdier users as part of the discovery experience.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

We share data with trusted service providers who help us operate the App (cloud infrastructure, push notification delivery, analytics). These providers are contractually bound to protect your data and use it only for the services they provide to us.

We may disclose your information to law enforcement or other authorities if required by law, court order, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the safety of any person or to address fraud or security issues.

4. Location Data

We show the city and hometown you add to your profile, and your group's location, to other users. Premium members can filter Discover by a group's location. Your precise GPS coordinates are stored on your profile but are never displayed to or shared with other users. You can revoke location permission at any time through your device settings.

5. Data Retention

We keep your data while your account exists, and every period below is applied automatically.

  • When you delete your account, your profile and group data, your messages and your media are deleted immediately; any remaining copies of your files are removed from storage within minutes. Our database backups keep a copy for up to 7 days and then drop it; we never restore a deleted account from them.
  • If you don't use the app for 2 years, we delete your account the same way, unless it was banned for breaking our rules or still has paid premium time left.
  • If you start signing up but never finish your profile, we delete that sign-in and the photos you uploaded after 30 days.
  • Records of which profiles were viewed are deleted after 90 days.
  • A safety report stays after the reported account is deleted, because it protects the person who filed it. One year after the report is closed, its written details and any quoted message are erased.
  • Feedback you send us is kept for 2 years. A contact address you leave when deleting your account is kept for 1 year.

Anonymized, aggregated data may be retained indefinitely for analytics and product improvement.

6. Who Can See Your Messages

Your messages are not end-to-end encrypted, which means it is technically possible for us to read them. So here is the rule we hold ourselves to, in writing.

Message content is opened in three situations and no others: when someone reports it to us, when a lawful order requires it, or when there is a suspicion of child sexual abuse material. Never out of curiosity, never to check on someone, and never for advertising or training.

Who can reach personal data. A small number of people have access to our admin tools. Only the data controller has full access; everyone else sees a restricted view with email addresses, phone numbers and free-text profile content withheld. Opening any one person's record is recorded in an access log, and everyone with access has signed a confidentiality undertaking.

7. If There Is a Data Breach

If personal data is exposed, lost or accessed unlawfully, we notify Turkey's Personal Data Protection Board within 72 hours of becoming aware of it, and we tell the people affected as soon as possible — what happened, which data, what to do about it, and who to ask.

8. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit and at rest to protect your data. We use enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure with strict access controls. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure — we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your Rights

You have the following rights over your personal data:

Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.

Rectification: Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.

Erasure: Request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten"). You can delete your account directly in the App settings.

Portability: Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.

Restriction: Ask us to limit how we process your data in certain circumstances.

Objection: Object to processing based on legitimate interests or for direct marketing.

Withdraw Consent: Where processing is based on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@crowdier.app and we will answer within thirty days. Residents of Turkey hold the equivalent rights under Article 11 of KVKK and may apply to the Personal Data Protection Authority after applying to us first; EU/EEA residents may lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority.

10. Push Notifications

We send push notifications for matches, messages, and activity updates. You can disable push notifications at any time through your device settings. Disabling notifications does not affect your ability to use the App.

11. Cookies and Tracking

We use minimal tracking necessary for the App to function, including session tokens and local storage on your device. We do not use third-party advertising trackers, remarketing pixels or social media trackers, we do not profile you across other sites, and we do not sell or rent your data to anyone.

This website sets no cookies. The homepage and its Turkish and French versions (crowdier.app, /tr, /fr) run Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights to see aggregate traffic and performance — both are cookieless, write nothing to your device, and only report aggregated data (page, approximate location, device type, browser) that cannot identify you individually. The six pages under this policy, including this one, do not load them at all. The only thing this website stores on your device is the language you pick on the legal pages. Our Cookie Policy lists that one item and explains the analytics in full. If we ever add anything that does need your consent, you will be asked before it runs.

12. Children's Privacy

Crowdier is not intended for anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected data from an underage user, we will delete it promptly and terminate the account. If you believe a minor is using Crowdier, please report it to us at hello@crowdier.app.

13. International Data Transfers

Your data may be processed and stored in countries outside your own, including Turkey and countries where our service providers operate. Where data is transferred outside the EU/EEA, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place (such as standard contractual clauses) to protect your data in accordance with GDPR requirements.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by email before the changes take effect. The "last updated" date at the top of this policy reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of Crowdier after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

15. Contact Us

If you have questions, requests, or concerns about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your data, email us at hello@crowdier.app. The data controller for crowdier.app and the Crowdier app is Kubilay Zengin.

For data deletion requests, you can also delete your account directly through App Settings → Delete Account.
